Following the departure of Paul Dickov earlier this week a few names have been linked with the vacancy at Oldham.
One of the most interesting is lifelong Oldham fan Paul Scholes!
Having come out of retirement, after six-months, a year or so ago Scholes looks almost certain to call time on his Man United career for good this summer but does he fancy a career in coaching or management?
Becoming The Latics' boss now has been rumoured but Chairman Simon Corney, as he told The Manchester Evening News, doubts this is going to happen!
Not that he would be against it: 'If Paul Scholes was to so much as express a desire to come here, it would refresh the whole club and of course I would be interested.
'But is it going to happen? No, it isn't, and there has been no contact between ourselves and Paul Scholes.
'For one thing, I cannot see him wanting to go from earning £60,000-a-week at Manchester United to £600-a-week at Oldham.'
That's that then? A former United teammate of Scholes has also been linked with the job, with this being Nicky Butt along with former Oldham boss Iain Dowie among others.
