Extended Oldham Caretaker Spell?

It's looking like Tony Philliskirk will remain as caretaker manager of Oldham for the foreseeable future.

Simon Corney, taking to BBC Radio Manchester, is going by the old "if it's not broken don't fix it" mentality and with the club winning back-to-back League One games it's best to leave it as is at the moment.

The search is ongoing though, not that much is happening, and Philliskirk probably won't remain as caretaker for the remainder of the season, Corney said: 'If it's not broken, don't fix it. We all know what a good job Tony's doing. He's a reluctant interim manager but he's done fantastically well.

'Tony knows the players and he's been very much involved in the past.

'If a new guy comes in, is it a little risky? That's not to say Tony's going to stay for the rest of the season because he might not want to.

'Every day, he says to me 'have you found anyone yet?' and I always tell him that we'll talk about it tomorrow. I've been saying that for 12 days now so he might pull me up on that soon.'

Philliskirk is happy to fill in temporarily, however that's all he wants it to be.
