Perfect Night For Johnson

Perfect Night For Johnson

Lee Johnson has described last night as being 'perfect' for Oldham as he got one up on his old man, and put us within one point of safety in the league.

Speaking to the Official Site following the 1-0 victory over Yeovil, Lee Johnson said.

'What a fantastic result and I'm so pleased because we didn't half work hard. When you play Yeovil you have to make sure you match their work rate and we did that. We showed them up and they had no answer to our work rate.'

The win puts Oldham within one point of safety and that victory he describes as being our 'great chance (to) stay up.' But he stresses nobody can afford to become complacent, survival is now just really in our hands and we have to make sure we grasp it in the remaining games.

As for the fact the win was against his dad, Johnson added.

'We had a little cuddle at the end of the game and I felt for him because he was upset, but the relief inside me took over that emotion.'

As it should and his concern is us, but both Johnson's are professional enough to realise and understand that, and Johnson admits with the hype surrounding the 'meeting' it was the perfect tool for him to motivate the team to being at their best.

Gary Johnson himself, showing the same professionalism said after the game.

'The reason I didn't enjoy the game was because my team didn't perform. I am pleased for Lee because his team deserved their victory.'
