'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mission Accomplished For Johnson

With our 2-1 victory over Crawley today, Oldham have more than secured our League One status for next season - after all we only need a point.

Speaking to the Official Site and grabbing our third win in a week, Lee Johnson said the hard work now really began as he would be planning for the new season to ensure the fans don't have to suffer again like they have this campaign.

It's not been a bad start for Johnson, 14 points from his first 8 games and he'll have learnt a lot in that time.

'It was a nerve wracking last 10 minutes, but the boys have come through and well done to them. Thank you to the club and to the owner and board for giving me the opportunity. The first steps have been so far so good, but now wee have to kick on.'

Johnson admits it wasn't a fantastic display from us, it was really just enough to get the point we needed, but he did describe Korey Smith as being 'magnificent' on the day, adding he was proud of him and David Mellor for their work rate against three Crawley midfielders, especially as they have both played 180 minutes this week.
