Playing Squad Changes For Next Season

Playing Squad Changes For Next Season

Oldham have released their retained list for the coming campaign.

The club have announced that they have taken up the available options on Glenn Belezika, Connor Brown and Cliff Byrne keeping them at the club for a further season.

New offers have been made to David Mellor, Kirk Millar, James Tarkowski and Carl Winchester, whilst discussions remain on going with Alex Cisak, Lee Croft, Jean-Yves Mvoto and Matt Smith.

It's been confirmed that offers will not be made to Dean Bouzanis, Connor Hughes, Liam Jacob, Robbie Simpson and Daniel Taylor who are now free to seek other opportunities.

Speaking to the Official Site after the list was released, manager Lee Johnson said.

'Each individual case had different circumstances and to the players leaving I will give them glowing references. I would like to thank them for their efforts, willingness and work rate since I have been here.'

Johnson also admitted that he is very sad to be losing Robbie Simpson.

The 28 year old has made 80 first team appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals, including one appearance as a goalkeeper.

Johnson said of him.

'Robbie has been fantastic during the short time I have been here, he gave everyting and it's a measure of how highly I regard Robbie that I made him captain.'

Johnson has previously said that if you were in the trenches then Simpson would be somebody you wanted with you, and he repeated that praise in the interview.
