Winchester Signs Extension

Carl Winchester has signed a 12 month extension and will remain at Oldham for the coming campaign.

The 20 year old has already won one Northern Ireland international cap, and whilst he prefers playing in midfield, Lee Johnson believes he has all the attributes to be a fantastic right back.

After making his debut back in November 2010, he has only made 22 starts and 9 substitute appearances, so Johnson is hopeful he can give him much more playing time this coming season.

Speaking to the Official Site Johnson said.

'I'm really pleased that Carl has signed his extension, I felt bad for him last season because he didn't have enough game time when you consider how well he training and played in the reserve games. I know Carl wants to play in midfield, but I want to have a look at him at right back.'
