Rooney & Wesolowski Update

Rooney & Wesolowski Update

Oldham have been boosted by news that the injuries sustained by Adam Rooney and James Wesolowski are no where near as bad as first feared.

Rooney as we know took a painful whack to the top of his foot during training and despite being named on the bench against County to make up numbers, the fear was that he'd maybe chipped a bone and he was set for an x-ray for confirmation.

That has now taken place and the results show that he hasn't chipped a bone, so it's just bruising.

As for James Wesolowski and the hamstring strain he picked up, the club have said he's improving well so it's just a case of a bit of rest for him as well and he should be back to normal and in contention although you'd expect this weekend to be too soon for him.

Charlie MacDonald is also now expected to return to full group training on Monday after missing the last six games with an ankle injury, and Matteo Lanzoni who has been out injured for eight matches after tearing his hamstring is also expected to return to training soon. Maybe within a fortnight?

In other injury news, David Mellor remains absent from training with his illness, and Glenn Belezika has also picked up a sickness bug whilst on loan at Hyde United.

Finally, Cliff Byrne who is also out on loan but at Scunthorpe United, has broken his hand, however it's not expected he will miss game time as his loan club are having a special cast made for him.
