Philliskirk Leads The Way In JPT

Philliskirk Leads The Way In JPT

Following Danny's brace in the five one victory over Notts County in the area quarter final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy in midweek, Philliskirk now has the honour of being the competitions leading goal scorer.

The 22 year old also found the net against Shrewsbury and Preston North End, so following the County game he now has a return of five goals in three matches.

He's also now over taken Adam Rooney as the clubs' leading goal scorer, as he now sits on six for the season.

Speaking to the Official Site Philliskirk said that the competition had gone far better than he expected so far with his goal return, but he knows he needs to take that into the league now.

'We've been playing well, but not taken our chances. We were due a win like that, and now we must kick on and take it into the next game. The squad is young and we are still learning. It's been fantastic since I have been here and I have loved every minute of it.'

As for the area semi final draw, Oldham have been picked to face Chesterfield and we will host them at Boundary Park.

It's the fourth time we have played them in the competition and we were beaten home and away in the area final back in 2012.

The game will take place in the week beginning December 9th.

Ticket and full details will be announced in due course.

Reacting to the draw, manager Lee Johnson said he was delighted to have secured home advantage because he knows Chesterfield will be tough opposition given their current league form, but he's confident that Oldham have enough about them to win the game.
