'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Johnson Annoyed By JPT Exit

Manager Lee Johnson has admitted he was left feeling very frustrated by our loss on penalties to Chesterfield last night in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Each side only managed a single goal during normal time which led to a tight penalty shoot out which unfortunately they won six five in the end.

Speaking to the press following the game Johnson said he felt we totally dominated the second half of the game and by rights we had the chances to have won the game in normal time by three or four clear goals, so he was nervous and frustrated to see the game go to penalties because it's a natural lottery in that situation and given luck hadn't been with us during 90 minutes it always makes it more tense in that situation.

'We should have had at least one penalty in the 90 minutes but the referee made some poor decisions, he'll probably look at himself and say he had a poor day. It's gut wrenching to go out, we are so sorry it didn't happen for us because we all wanted to progress.'

Johnson goes on to say that with our reputation for playing good attractive football, he knows we need to be cleverer and cuter when teams come to sit back and stiffle things, but he's admitted he's already told the players not to dwell on this and for them to move on quickly because now the JPT is gone for this season, we still have a lot to play for in the league and the FA Cup and that needs to be our focus now.

As for our FA Cup replay, that game has now been confirmed as Saturday January 5th and it will kick off at 3pm, and won't be screened on TV.

The winners of the replay will face Liverpool as fans know.
