'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Johnson Not Happy Following Colchester Loss

Manager Lee Johnson has been described as being 'furious' and 'livid' with the players following the two nil loss to Colchester last weekend.

It was a rather animated after match interview from the gaffer this time, and in quotes carried by the Manchester Evening News following his press conference, Johnson explained that he was tempted to use all three substitutes after only 10 minutes of the game on Saturday, and even joked that had he been in possession of a gun he could've quite likely shot one of the players as well.

'For me that's my worst day in football. For a Lee Johnson side to go and play like that, I just feel like nothing in my personality was shown there. If I'd had a gun I'd have shot someone. I very nearly made three subs after 10 minutes. That would've been ridiculous and I would've been hounded, but that's what I felt. I couldn't because we still had a couple who I'd have left on nursing niggles.'

It's crunch time for Johnson and some players now, the gaffer confirmed that he hadn't been happy with the levels of new signing Sidney Schmeltz so he would be looking to move him on, and he's not the only one he'd quite like to part company with in January as he continues to try and build a squad capable of challenging for the top six spots, as simply put he feels there is a lack of desire amongst some of our players, and without that desire he doesn't stand a chance of getting this club where he wants it to be, and he's not concerned with names, if people keep performing like that, they will be listed as he won't move forward with them.
