Johnson - Baxter Was The Difference

Manager Lee Johnson has said that Jose Baxter was the difference in the one all draw with Sheffield United on Boxing Day.

Oldham took the early lead thanks to a goal from Clarke-Harris, but within ten minutes of the restart Baxter has secured them a point.

Speaking to the press following the match, Johnson couldn't help but praise our former player and he explained that simply put that's why they paid what they did for him ultimately.

'We know only too well what Jose is capable of and he showed that out there. But, at the end of the day, I'm not going to be too picky because I thought that was a good point for us.'

Johnson says that he feels we started very well and we stuck to the game plan well, but as the game drew on United more than came back into it so he can't be too disappointed that they got a share of the spoils and they did deserve it really if he's being fair to them.

Given their equaliser, Johnson admitted that although they had worked on what Baxter was capable of, and had tried very hard to keep him quiet during the game, but sometimes with a strike like that there isn't anything you can do in advance or at the time to change it, so you have to grudgingly kick back and applaud it.

Overall though, he was pleased with the performance of the players and he felt we more than competed with a very good side and showed what we were capable of as well.
