Tarks Offered New Oldham Deal
Oldham have today confirmed that centre half James Tarkowski has been offered a new and improved long term deal with the club following his performances so far this season.
Tarks has been attracting interest given his displays and I'm surprised that no club has actually firmed up their offer so far.
He joined us back in May 2009 on a two year scholarship deal, and he progressed as far as being involved in the match day squad in January 2011, making his debut for the club a week later as a substitute in the game against Brentford. His full debut came shortly after in March 2011 when we face Leyton Orient.
Such was his progression that he was offered a new two year professional deal in May 2011, and well really, he hasn't looked back.
He has now made over 60 appearances for the club and become a very important member of manager Lee Johnson's first XI. He scored his first goal for us at the end of last season in the game against Carlisle United.
Last summer he signed a further two year deal in recognition of his development, and he has now been handed a deal which would see him remain contracted to us until the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Hopefully this will all be done and dusted quickly and ensure that no other club is tempted as the window draws to a close.
