Johnson Pleased With Swindon Performance
Manager Lee Johnson has said that he felt that the win over Swindon was a just reward for the team following their recent displays where results haven't gone for us.
Oldham left it late in the game to secure the win thanks to a goal by Jonathan Grounds in the 73rd minute of the match and overall it was a fully justified win based on our performances and the chances we did create in the game.
Speaking to the press following our first win away from home since late last November, the gaffer said.
'We deserved that, not only on the strength of our performance today, but the way we've been playing lately without just rewards. We dug in and battled it out.'
Johnson goes on to describe it as a very 'heartening' display in conditions that were 'pretty awful' on the day, but he thought we won the tactical, the technical and the effort battles over 90 minutes especially as we were missing James Tarkowski, and Johnson jokes he threw the back four together and they had two days to get it right.
Joking a bit further as obviously the relief after the win was palpable, the gaffer also said that given how busy he was over the course of the January transfer window, he feels he owes his phone a massage with the work he's put it through, but he has been delighted with the business he was able to pull off, but no doubt remains disappointed that Tarks won't be with us next season.
