'If It's Football, It's Vital'

City Clash Crucial In Battle At The Bottom

Manager Lee Johnson has that the game against Bristol City will be vital in the battle at the bottom of the division, and he wasn't prepared to gloss over that as we continue to bid to finally 'click' consistently.

City are obviously a former club of his so the match will hold some significant value for him, and given his time as a player there professional pride will see him want to come out of the game with all three points and I doubt he'll fail to get that over to the players.

Speaking to the Bristol Post ahead of the game, Johnson explained.

'Win and we go nine points above Bristol City. Lose and they move to within three points of us and we will be looking back over our shoulders again. Whichever way you look at it, there is no getting away from the fact that this is an important game for both sides.'

Johnson goes on to say that for Oldham the aim has to be getting clear of the relegation battle and building up a buffer on those teams below us so we can have some breathing space, and given that the City clash could do that for us, it needs to be our only focus.

With heavy wind and rain expected for the clash, it certainly won't be pretty would you imagine, but points are what counts in some games, and this is one of them.
