Lockwood Wanted Three Points

Lockwood Wanted Three Points

Centre half Adam Lockwood has said he would've gladly swapped his first goal for Oldham in the game against MK Dons if it would've guaranteed we came out with all three points on the day.

The defender joined us back in the January transfer window, and our opening goal against MK Dons in our last match was his first for the club, but following the sending off of Genseric Kusunga, they came back to snatch an equaliser and he told the Official Site.

'I'm gutted. I'd have swapped my goal here to get a result but it didn't go our way. As a group, I thought we put in a really good performance against a good side. When you go down to ten men, these are the sides who can punish you. We worked really hard but to be hit with a sucker punch like that was gutting. We'll regroup and move forward.'

32 year old Lockwood said that as soon as we had the reduced number on the pitch, their possession was certainly going to be a factor in things, but he thought even then we stuck to the game plan well and even though we were conceding possession, when we had the ball we were making it count and he felt it was a very professional performance but it was just a shame that we couldn't have held on to the lead because three points was what we were after, and what he felt we deserved, from our performance.

Of course, with the way the fixture list bizarrely falls, once we've got the Gillingham game out of the way we actually face MK Dons at Boundary Park again, so some revenge may be in order.
