New Boy Targets Top Six

New Boy Targets Top Six

You join a club because you have ambition, you want the club to match that and visa versa.

Brian Wilson, fresh from his signing of a two-year contract with Oldham on Tuesday, feels that the club are heading in the right direction and can match the ambition that he has going forward.

Wilson and Oldham boss Lee Johnson go back some years having played alongside each other at Bristol City and it was that previous and the fact that he knows Johnson's 'a winner' that made him want to sign for Oldham.

'Pushing up the league' is what he wants to do and says that he believes he can achieve this at Boundary Park, which is why he signed instead of staying with Colchester United, who waned to keep him.

Mike Jones said that he wants to push for promotion and that is what the 31-year-old is looking for too and doesn't see why a play-off place, at least, isn't possible next season.

Wilson told the official website: 'There is no reason why we can't finish in the top six. I played against the team last season and they were very hard to break down

'They give you very few chances and when they do get the lead, it's hard to break them down. Leyton Orient just missed out on promotion last season when they missed out in the play-offs so there is no reason why Oldham can't do that.'

If all share the attitude, and enthusiasm of Wilson, then I can't see why Oldham can't be nearer to the summit of the league 1 table than the bottom of it, in particular if the form continues as it ended last season.
