Excited Coleman Signs Pro Deal
Joel Coleman's development at Oldham has been rewarded with a first professional contract with the club.
The 18-year-old 'keeper, who has been with the club for some seven-years and worked his way through the youth set-up at Boundary Park, has put pen to paper on a two-year contract that will see him looking to force his way into Lee Johnson's first-team plans.
It would be expected that Paul Rachubka will start the season as the no.1 but Coleman, very excited at signing his first pro contract, isn't aiming to make up the numbers and is going to look to 'push Rachubka for a starting spot.'
First and foremost though he hopes to get a go in pre-season and then maybe be given the nod in some cup games, such as the Johnstone's Paint Trophy perhaps.
Coleman told the official website: 'I've already been in the club for seven years so I'm excited for the next two.
'I had a very good two years during my scholarship and we won the cup last season so hopefully I will get the chance to make my debut for the first team this season.
'I want to work hard in training and get my chance. I hope to make my debut, play in a few friendlies and the cups and push Paul Rachubka for a starting spot.'
He went on to play tribute to goalkeeping coach Anthony White who he credits for helping him a lot over the past six-months that he's been with the club, with him pushing him hard in the gym to build up his strength with him already 'raring to go' next season.
