Elokobi Can't Wait To Get Going

New signing George Elokobi has said that the passion and ambition of manager Lee Johnson was a huge factor in him joining us.

Having been released by Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of last season, Johnson invited him to come and train with us whilst he looked for a new club and he appeared as a second half substitute in the game against Huddersfield, and then played the full 90 in the behind closed doors match against Blackburn, impressing the gaffer enough to offer him a deal.

Speaking to the Official Site having penned his 12 month deal the other day, the player explained.

'I had one or two calls up until I signed but I trained with the lads and had a good chat with the gaffer who told me where he sees the club going forward. I played against Oldham last season and they played well so as a club, I thought it was a good club to join. We've got a good bunch of players in the dressing room and we've got a great leader in Liam Kelly.'

28 year old Elokobi goes on to say that he feels Oldham have a great chance in the division this season, and he wants to play his part in that, and he feels the manager and the coaching staff will help to drive us on now.

Having made his debut as a substitute in the season opener against Colchester, Elokobi will no doubt be hoping to get his starting debut tonight in the Capital One Cup against Middlesbrough.
