Johnson - Victory Was Deserved

Manager Lee Johnson has said he felt we thoroughly deserved our two nil victory over Doncaster Rovers yesterday.

Speaking to the press after goals from Jonson Clarke-Harris and Jonathan Forte secured us all three points and our first win of the season so far, Johnson couldn't have been happier with the efforts of the players over the course of 90 minutes.

'It's been a tough two or three weeks for us, but we came out and played like we can do and I'm delighted for the players, the staff and the fans. We have played well in spells this season but we put it together in a manner that was very pleasing.'

Having called on the team and the fans to be positive ahead of this encounter, Johnson said it was a tough as he expected it to be, but we started how we wanted and he felt the first half was a pretty even affair really with both teams trying to feel each other out, but thankfully for us after the half time restart we were 'fantastic' in his eyes and he passes all the credit for that on to the players themselves.

'We worked on a game plan which we executed perfectly and we also worked on a number of things which I don't really want to publicise to our opponents. There were some minor tweaks and major ones but it all came right on the day.'

Johnson goes on to say he didn't see what happened for the penalty but having been told what Doncaster's complaint was he can understand them being unhappy with it, but overall he doesn't feel they can argue about the result itself and the fact we won.

Have to be honest it could have been four or five quite easily. You performed really well and the 680 fans who made the trip were a credit. They never stopped singing from start to finish.
