Clarke In Team Of The Week (7/2/17)

Clarke In Team Of The Week (7/2/17)

Oldham Athletic are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week's action.

The performance by Peter Clarke in the one nil victory over Chesterfield at the weekend at the Proact Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we'll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Clarke was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice - the FL blurb read.

'Clarke produced a real captain`s performance as a resilient Oldham claimed an important 1-0 win away at fellow strugglers Chesterfield. Not content with just standing firm against the Spireites` attack, the Latics centre-back grabbed the winning goal in stoppage-time.'

It's always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Clarke for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

James McKeown (Grimsby Town), Cheick Keita (Birmingham City), Jake Cooper (Millwall), Peter Clarke (Oldham Athletic), Michael Hefele (Huddersfield Town), Mitchell Dijks (Norwich City), David Vaughan (Nottingham Forest), John Fleck (Sheffield United), David Wheeler (Exeter City), Tom Lawrence (Ipswich Town), Matty Godden (Stevenage).

Manager - Phil Brown (Southend United).
