Stevenage came to Boundary Park on Saturday and left with a hard earned point after doing battle with Oldham.
Boro captain Mark Roberts saw his early goal cancelled out by veteran striker Shefki Kuqi, but managed to hang onto a point despite coming under pressure from the home side.
Stevenage made an excellent start to the game. Darius Charles forced a save from Oldham goalkeeper Alex Cisak before they grabbed the lead after four minutes. Michael Bostick's long-range shot looked like heading well wide, but Roberts got his head to the ball and beat Cisak.
Oldham levelled after 19 minutes. Kuqi met Chris Taylor's left-wing free-kick with a glancing header eight yards out which goalkeeper Chris Day only just failed to stop.
The Latics were furious to be denied a penalty when John Mousinho seemed to haul down Jean Yves Mvoto.
Both sides had chances after the break but neither could capitalise and so it was a point each.
