Oldham 1-1 Crawley Town
Oldham, looking to get back to winning ways in league 1, had to be content with a draw at Boundary Park against struggling Crawley Town on Saturday afternoon.
We had the chances to win the game but failure to take them, coupled with a 'keeper who made some good saves, meant we had to be content with a 1-1 draw.
New Aston Villa loanee Daniel Johnson (7), who only came to Oldham on loan this week, had 'promised goals' and he didn't take long to start making good on that promise as he sliced through the Crawley defence before finishing past Crawley 'keeper Jamie Ashdown early on.
Had it not been for Ashdown, who saved efforts from Mike Jones and Danny Philliskirk, we would have been out of sight before Crawley drew level just ahead of the half time interval.
Hesitation from Paul Rachubka put the defence under pressure giving Gwion Edwards (42) the chance, which he took as he drove home from 25-yards to make it one-one at the break.
Almost all of the second half chances came our way but Ashdown kept out Jones, more than once, again with Philliskirk and Timothee Dieng failing to hit the target.
Dieng had another chance to win it but his header was straight at a grateful Ashdown as the game ended in a one-one draw.
